To allow maximum root volume and free movement of my hair I spilt my parting into two sections before diffusing. Step 1: before applying any styling products I brush my hair to how I want it to part Step 2: once I’m happy with how the parting sits at the front I then lift the hair away from my scalp half way back creating two sections Step 3: Apply your products Tip-I never apply anything to my root area,

It’s no coincidence that my my current favourite stylers are jelly’s and contain similar ingredients.. (Swipe 👉🏻 to see what they are) The struggle between my coarse, low porosity hair & ‘traditional’ proteins is an on going one but I’ve come to find products with these ingredients 👇🏻give me the structure & definition without sending my hair into a freak out!
Aloe vera - strengthens and repairs hair. It has a similar chemical composition as that of keratin. In addition to its own nutrients, Aloe vera can rejuvenate hair, give it more elasticity and prevent it from weakening or breaking.

Green tea – contains Panthenol which is a by product of pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5). It helps strengthen hair, retain moisture, and improves texture

Thymus - Thymus peptides, are organic compounds that are also produced by the body itself. They are absorbed by the hair follicles, therefore strengthening the hair.

Okra vegetable protein - enriched with amino acids

Horsetail is rich in silicic acid – a natural source of silicon. Nettle & horsetail - When you combine these two ingredients in your hair products, you get great results. All of the above mimic what a stronger protein does.. strengthen, create definition and expand the hair cuticle to provide more volume I’ve learnt to use the stronger proteins in other ways (I have a previous post on this) it’s all trial & error! Bye bye 2020! 👋🏻 What a year! Its brought so many difficult times to so many, loss of loved ones, jobs and businesses, but if your still standing then heres a virtual high five! 🤚🏼 For me, this year gave me two huge positives that I’m so greatfull for. A business that has reignited my soul! (Launching a business the same week we entered a national lockdown with a 6 year old at home wasn’t ideal, but I did it!) It also meant having my husband spend more time with us as a family due to our restaurant having to close, this family time was much needed! So with that in mind I’m determined to hold on to the positives of this year and start 2021 with a positive attitude! On a curly note removing the pressure to make my hair as curly as possible just to feel like I’m worthy of my place here has taken my healthy hair journey on a much happy path! Do you, not just for 2021 but always!

This cast helps stop frizz while drying and keep definition through the drying process Why do we scrunch it out? Nobody wants those hard noodle curls some of us were rocking back in the day! Who this?! For those that haven’t seen my stories, I finally got my curls cut and coloured yesterday after 6 long months! I am beyond pleased with the results! Nuala @nualamoreysalon nailed everything I asked for I asked for in both the cut and colour Bleach was used to lighten, as my natural hair colour is so dark, olaplex was added in to help minimise damage, along with a chocolate brown and a violet toner applied after. I had just over an inch taken off the length but kept my top layers longer as they have gotten so curly!
